Hello & welcome! Classy Artist Box is run by art teacher Kellie and her husband Beckett. Kellie is a wife, mom of two, a former licensed art teacher in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. She also takes commissions on the side “for fun.” In addition to Beckett’s role as manager and copywriter for Classy Artist Box, he also owns his own business selling toys, games, etc. They added “homeschooling” to their to-do list as we decided to homeschool in April 2023.
In early 2019, Kellie started this business to help solve a pain point Kellie had while being homeschooled as a child, as well as a way to get to stay home with their kids. The passion/goal is to provide a simple, informative art education program OR fun projects to make for anyone who loves art! It is her absolute joy to serve you and your family in this way.
Kellie earned BA in Art from The University of Minnesota in 2011 and a Master’s in education (with an emphasis on k-12 art education) from Minnesota State University in 2015. Her professors thought it absurd to write her master’s thesis on the best methods of implementing art education through technology, but the research proved useful, especially in 2020!
Why did we start Classy Artist Box?
There are so many reasons we chose to begin this adventure, but top 4 are:
- We want to help bring YOU quality art education at home.
- Kellie wanted a creative solution to be able to stay home with her kids
- We are passionate about bringing fine art curriculum and activities to kids, teens, and adults in a fresh way.
- We also really love that we can supply art materials and private art lessons to you in a super affordable package. In fact, our goal is to send you your lessons and supplies for less than the average art tutor lesson (that often doesn’t include art supplies)!
Why are we called Classy Artist Box?
Classy is a play on the word CLASS, as in art class! We toyed with the name Class e (*as in electronic) Artist Box, but thought it sounded too plain.
Subscribe today if you haven’t already! You’re gonna love what comes in your next box!
Sincerely,
Kellie Witzke + fam
